My father celebrates his birthday today and turns 56.
And as he likes to say it, it's only four more years before he begins receiving his SSS pension.
He's home alone today, not sure if my mother's coming home early but they'll definitely be celebrating it this week as my mother's birthday falls on Friday, February 1.
He's been retired for several years now and is now a "house-band" but would gladly take on any task if asked. I'm just wishing I hit the lotto jackpot one of these days and start a business ... I'll have my father manage it for me. As a former banker, he's got the business acumen to able to let the business grow.
While we're waiting and hoping for the business of our dreams to materialize, my father spends most of his days at home doing the household chores, and makes trips on his bike to the nearest lotto outlets or to pay bills. Recently, a new videoke machine is keeping him busy as well as long afternoons and nights playing Text Twist (thanks largely to the generosity of my sister who left behind her laptop for my parents to use).
He's also adjusting to his new role as a grandpop to little Ikai and proudly announces to everyone that his about 90% of his mobile phone's stored pictures are of his apo.
Here's to more years Pop, HAPPY BIRTHDAY and stay healty!
