On really dull day (meaning it's either a boring or a slow day, or, I'm sleepy) I can drink up to three mugs-full all in the efforts of trying to fend off sleep, or at least, the onslaught of sleep.
In my younger days when work was stressful, demanding and deadline-drive (it still is although experience has taught me how to handle stress, demanding clients, and deadlines), coffee was like fuel needed to perk up the senses, churn adrenaline, and manage the whole day (or night, if needed).
The worst days of my younger professional life were days when I chugged 6 to 7 cups of coffee.
But I do enjoy my Starbucks, Coffee Bean, UCC or Seattle's Best gourmet coffee every now and then. If money was not a problem, I would probably be consuming two grandes of expresso a day from the SB branch here at RCBC Plaza.
Aside from the delicious coffees served on such occasion, the chance to enjoy an afternoon or evening of chit-chat with friends is what probably fuels my liking for a kitakits at your nearby coffee shop.
In my lonesome or times when I have time to waste before a business call or meet, I seek out the solace of a coffee shop and endure the P100 pesos or so budget damage. Comfortable, usually with good reads available and lots of people to observe (or ogle at), with a good cup of coffee in hand, time supposedly wasted becomes time cherished -- peace and quiet, with the warm or cold, bittersweet brown liquid making a trek from the cup to your lips, to your palate to wash down your throat.
Wala lang, kape muna!
