Food for Insomniacs

Last night, I once again had an insomnia attack and wasn't able to sleep until around 2:00am.

I just got reminded about this because I found an interesting article on Yahoo about what insomniacs (like myself and probably around a zillion others all over the globe) can eat that can induce sleep.

Read the article here.

Looking at the list of food items an insomniac can munch on to entice sleep, it's not a bad list :P

MILK and other dairy products - no problem with milk as I like milk, hot or cold. And as my wife can attest to, I simply love cheese. There's a year-old cheese ball in the ref that has suddenly become delectable!

COMPLEX CARBOs - beans, nuts, seeds, kamote, apples, pears and berries are all good on my list.

CHICKEN - so now I have an excuse to stock the ref with Colonel Sanders' original recipe!

TAHO - since taho is made from soy, this should qualify. The problem now is to find a taho vendor at 1:00am. I know the balut vendor makes his rounds at around 11 but a taho vendor? Not likely.

Aside from those mentioned, you can add yogurt, spinach, whole grains, seafood, eggs, almonds and green leafy veggies to the list of foods you can eat to ensure you hit the sack real good.

Foods to be avoided by insomniacs include simple carbo (pasta, pizza, rice), coffee, chocolate, alcohol, fatty foods, spicy foods, and artificial sweeteners.

Nifty stuff!
