wednesday warbles 2: free wi-fi, 4 freakin' pages of writing ... almost 4, phone cam, other phone is dying

I finally had time today to look at the writing I produced some 40,000 miles off the ground yesterday and I must correct myself. I did not write three pages of a spec-fic piece while on the two-hour flight ... I wrote 3.75 pages. Yes, I didn't realize immediately that I almost consumed four blank pages as I was furiously writing while the creative juice was flowing.

Despite the rigors of travel, what I really appreciate during these trips is the free wi-fi that is offered in the hotels where I stay.

In my most recent trips, all the hotels where I stayed in had some sort of wi-fi in place. Some had wi-fi access even in the rooms while in others you had to go to their wi-fi zone. The latter being the case, I remember, in the Presidents Inn in Roxas City and more recently in Koronadal City where I was billeted at La Pamela Suites. The only hotel I remember where wi-fi wasn't offered as a free amenity was in the hotel I stayed in Iloilo City.

With free wi-fi, somehow the loneliness that tends to creep unto you just before you sleep is somehow eased because you can just connect and check up on what's happening in the world (and your social media circles) -- without thinking about losing prepaid credits or an added cost to your postpaid at month's end.

On my previous post I included a set of photos taken with my ZTE Blade.

I posted the same pictures over on FB in an album entitled Taken with a ZTE Blade Netphone and a handful of people apparently "liked" the album. Thanks, guys!

I'm not much of a photographer unlike my pal, Wendell (see his photos here but I think they're only accessible if you're friends with him) but I do try to every now and then capture the "moment" of something. I sometimes succeed but most often fail. I have no illusion of becoming a world-class fotog but someday I do hope to become a bit better on the aspects of photography. I can't even make sense yet of how to maximize the benefit of shutter speed, exposure, and aperture.

Oh well.

The Nokia XpressMusic phone I am using (a hand-me-down, mind you) is dying. Some weeks ago, the LCD started acting up that dead pixel lines started appearing at the bottom of the screen. Today, fully-half of the screen is filled with dead pixel lines although you can still discern what is behind the DPLs. Unfortunately though, when you hit the sub-screens, it now has a tendency to render the screens quakey, shakey, and rippley that reading SMS, configuring what needs to be configured, and controlling music-playing is too much of a chore.

Knowing that LCD repair is a costly action, I think the resurrection of the Sony Ericsson T303 is forthcoming. Or maybe the Nokia 6680.
