tuesday tidbits: visitable friends' blogs, bookshelf organization, the cold, markus highway review

One of these days I'll need to get my bookshelf organized into books that I've already read and books yet to be read. A third category for the re-organization of the shelf should be "books I've started reading but have abandoned or deferred reading for the moment".

A usual dilemma I encounter after I finish reading a book is what to read next. The bookshelf, in its current state, is of no help because the books -- read, unread, and deferred -- are mixed up that I can't easily spot a book I've yet to read or finish reading. My books (along with other odds and ends) are arranged on the shelf according to their dimension (size, shape, and thickness) rather than the aforementioned classification. That's because I had to maximize the shelf, it being the only shelf for my books. Almost all possible spaces are crammed with books in no particular order.

I know for a fact that there are still a lot of books in the shelf that are on the TBR list but since I'm too lazy to trawl through the pile (and put them back again), I agonize for days on on what to read next. It's my current status, just check the upper right corner of this site to see that I'm not reading any particular book at the moment.

That's a resolution for the future dream home someday -- lots and lots of shelf for books, magazines, and other reading stuff.

After successfully evading the cold virus that has been running rampant in the household for the past couple of weeks, I finally caught it last night.

I probably got it from my three girls -- Elvie, Ikai, and Issa -- who are currently on the tail-end of the cold spell (unless they get the virus again in a day or two) and now I'm still in the early stages and looking grumpily forward to a week or so having troubled zzz's because of it.

I don't like getting a cold because when I get it, what follows is a bout with coughing which would also last a week or so. If I could stop the cold dead on its tracks before it gets full-blown, I could avoid the coughing spell. However, I already popped a Sinutab earlier today and unfortunately it hasn't halted the progress of the cold.

I'm now on my second tissue roll :(

Several of my friends are also blogging and you might be interested in taking a side-visit to their corners in the internet universe:

Luz allows us a peep into her life as a wife, mother, and professional in this poignantly written blog. Quite insightful and worth a few minutes of your time.

Adee has always loved kids but this time around, she's blogging about two very special kids -- her own Jade and Jakei. Read about motherhood adventures in this fresh-off-virtual-press blog.

Despite the name, It's not what you think it is. What it is is that it's the personal blog by one witty Kaye -- wife, mother, and PR expert -- where she shares to us a bit of everything -- her family life, her habits, her opinions, her rants, and motherly advise wherever possible.

Janie Wanie writes professionally for Yahoo PH but catch her off-hours at her own space where she writes about her life's adventures.

Monique talks to us about travel, food, health and beauty in this blog that speaks of "first hand experiences" of scenes, products, places, and other stuff. Part-review, part-travel blog, part-beauty tip giver -- there's got to be something here that'll capture your attention.

Add these great blogs to your regular cyber-trip, folks!

Sometimes you just want to listen to a record that's full nonsense but still hooks you.

When I get this type of itch, I plop Markus Highway's debut album Behold, Rejoice! Surfernando Is Hear Nah. Twelve tracks (count 'em 12 tracks) of absolutely silly and friggin' nonsense that however tugs the corner of your lips and may probably also tug your heart (nope, doesn't work on me). Don't bother trying to understand the undertones or the meanings of the song -- they're as literal as they can be and only the great Marcus Adoro would be able to dish out such a wonderful yet utterly time-wasting effort.

No point in doing a review for the song. There isn't anything substantial to be reviewed. But it's a great fun to listen to and when you just feel the urge to go wild over something nonsensical, then this record is just the right ticket. It has it's good sides -- you smile and then you smile just at the absurdity of the songs! Musically, you'll have heard better but the songs here are LSS material!

See, even I am sounding nonsensical in this, errr, review of sorts! I wonder how Marcus conned Warner to put out this magnificently-manufactured piece of worthlessness. But it's pure, pure, pure fun! (no sarcasm intended, REALLY!)

Final Rating: 3.5 / 5 (rated only for the FUN factor!)
