As we're temporarily living out of Laguna, my wife and I commuted to work this morning.
This is the first time, Elvie has ever commuted to work from San Pedro and for me it's been eons -- since I relocated to Makati sometime in 2003.
To make things even more challenging, we had to wake up quite early because Elvie had the morning shift which meant being in the office before 7am. And surprisingly, we made it to The Enterprise Center at about 6:35am!
We left my folks house at about 5:30am and my father volunteered to bring us to one of several bus stations in the vicinity. When I was still commuting daily from Laguna, the buses all passed through Tunasan, Muntinlupa before veering for the SLEX via Susana Heights. Over the years, things have changed and there are now buses that exit to the SLEX via Southwoods, in the process avoiding the usually traffic-jam-infested areas of San Pedro-Bayan, the San Pedro-Muntinlupa boundary, and pockets along Tunasan.
Onto a Worthy Bus bound for Cubao we found ourselves and settled to wait for the trip to Makati.
Elvie and I were fidgeting in our seats as the bus had yet to leave and it was already 6:00am. But five minutes later, the bus left and was exiting Southwoods onto SLEX about a little less than 5 minutes later. Up the Skyway ramp some more minutes later and voila, arrived at the MRT-Ayala bus stop area about 6:25am. From there, it was basically just a few minutes ride via jeep along an almost empty Ayala Avenue.
Here's to hoping that commutes will always be like this when we finally make the move south a few years from now.
