hang-over

Three days after the company outing in Montemar Beach Club in Bagac, Bataan and I still have a hang-over.

And lest you folks think that the hang-over I have is a result of too much alcohol consumption in an attempt to enjoy a hedonistic two-day getaway, let me correct you that the hang-over is not a result of such. The hang-over I am currently experiencing is a result of too much singing -- a result of over-handling the microphone and over-exposure to the videoke machine at the resort.

I first took the mic about after lunch when someone punched in the number for After Image's Next in Line but no one claimed it. So, rather than let a good song go to waste, I belted it out (and in the process left out one of my colleagues who I was talking some minutes earlier).

The next time I got to hold the mic was very, very late night after the party started to die down (when the bonfire failed to ignite and it started to drizzle). Those who wanted to continue partying flocked to the pavilion where the videoke machine was and there, in chorus or tandems, we belted out songs until one by one, the songers mumbled excuses and went to their rooms presumably until only I and Edmon were the ones left along with our Montemar hosts.

Mon and I sung until about 3 and ended the videoke bonanza antipasto style. Why antipasto style? Well, when there were still about five of us left, we were singing our hearts out to songs such as With or Without You and You Give Love a Bad Name ... Mon and I ended the impromptu repertoire with I Will Be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman.

After Montemar, I still find myself itching out to sing. And since the compo in Makati is kaputz and there's no Magic Sing or a Mediacom machine, I had to content myself with tuning in to Destiny Cable's videoke channel (Channel 5) and hope that a good song turns up requested (no way am I wasting PHP 2.50 on a song request).

And while in the office, I am experiencing increased episodes of personal singing or LSS (last song syndrome) moments and that everytime I am alone or on downtime (translated as not busy) I have this tendency to just sing out.

How long this hang-over lasts, I don't know exactly. But there are plans to get a videoke machine for my wife's birthday this Saturday (and you know who's brewing the plan, of course), and if this plan comes to fruition then who knows, my hang-over might be finally be satiated.
