For the third month in a row, there has been this little drama over water bills at the apartment row where my family and I are one of the tenants. Apparently, our landlord has had unpaid bills with the water provider and the contractors of Manila Water have been forced to force collection out of us -- those who are utterly unaware of the negotiations between Manila Water and our landlord.
And for the second month in a row, the water service has been cut off. Last time, it was fine because the water service was reconnected the same day it was cut. Yesterday, after the little drama where I had to call the landlord's accountant (who was tasked with managing the apartment row's utility bills) and inform him of the disconnection service, the Manila Water contract didn't even bother to talk about the issue and just proceeded to lock up the water meter. Like us, I guess he's fed up with dealing with the issue for the third month in a row.
And fed up is the word. I'd better start hunting for a better abode in the next couple of months.
And talk about timing. Just when it's the time you would want to take three showers a day, I haven't had one since yesterday morning when the water service was cut. And this being an apartment row in a street of businesses, asking your neighbors for water isn't a simple matter. I'd have to buy the water I get out of other people's taps or in a worst-case scenario, spend Php 40 per container on drinking water which will then be used for chores that would've involved tap water.
This a great f@cking weekend, folks!
