Christopher Tolkien, son of the late Father of Modern Fantasy, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, has just finished editing “The Children of Hurin” and publishers announced a release of the book next year in spring. Read the story here
Now, this book is a great treat for Tolkien lovers like me. I know the Philippine Tolkien Society will share in joy that a new Tolkien book will be coming out. After editing/writing the History of Middle-Earth series and posthumously publishing his father’s The Silmarillion, having Christopher finish editing and rewriting “The Children of Hurn” will be a welcome addition to my treasure trove of Tolkien tales.

Hurin, is one of the Edain or Elf-friends who in the First Age of Middle-Earth awakened and entered into friendship and servitude of the Elves (yes, there’s a rich history before Frodo Baggins went on the quest). The story “The Children of Hurin” will surely talk about the adventures, fortunes and misfortunes of Turin, son of Hurin, and probably his sister as well. It’s a tragedy of sorts and excerpts of it were included in The Silmarillion.
