My Sisters

The past week and days have had me talking more and more with my sisters, Rochelle and Wheng, who are both based abroad. I have been exchanging emails with Rochelle these past few days and I actually had a chatting session with Wheng last Friday evening.

It was I, if I recall correctly, who started the most recent exchange of emails with Rochelle (the second of three, me being the eldest) who is based in the U.S. right now. It was just a simple “Hi-How-Are-You” email type, plainly asking how she is doing with work and studies (she’s studying office management, I think, in a community college in California) and then me rambling about how dull my office life is and how excited my wife and I are with the birth of our little angel.

After that, it was an exchange of emails which is actually more than what I am accustomed to receiving from Rochelle which is about one email in three months. She’s been in the States since August 2004 and it’s a little over two years since I’ve last seen her … except for photos she sends and glimpses of her on her Friendster account.

Last Friday, I got to chat with Wheng, our youngest, who busy selling stuff at the Dubai Duty Free Shop in the U.A.E. Probably the most planned among us three siblings, she went to Dubai to pursue her goal of travel. No doubt, her success in Dubai will spell further travels in the future.

Last Friday was her day-off so she went to a nearby internet shop to check her emails and stuff. By chance, I was already at home then (around 7:30pm) and surfing the internet when I spotted that her Yahoo Messenger icon was “live”. So, an instant “Oist” greeting led to several hours of chatting which lasted until 11:00pm (7:00pm in Dubai) when she said she had to go home and catch one of her soap operas over TFC.

On Friday, my sisters have scheduled a web-conference which means, setting up our YMs and for that particular evening, I have to ready a webcam. Both my sisters have their days-off this coming weekend and decided to have a conference online. Talk about the wonders of technology. Thank God for the internet!

Wala lang. I just miss my sisters. That’s all.
