Frolicking Thoughts on a Friday

Yesterday, as typhoon “Milenyo” (international name: Xangsane) unleashed its fury all over Metro Manila and nearby provinces, I was stuck in the office with several remaining colleagues who, like me, have somehow managed to reach RCBC Plaza despite the rains, the winds, the falling debris, and the flying debris.

I could’ve cancelled going to work but failed to receive the message of work cancellation in time. Arriving at the office before 11am yesterday, the cancellation notice was sent out about 10 minutes earlier.

If it’s any consolation, those who managed to get into the office yesterday and rendered at least a quarter of a day’s work will get half-day compensation. Work, yeah right.

Last Thursday night I’ve developed a new hobby online –
NeoPets!

I think I first learned of NeoPets via their TCG or trading card game which several youngsters (and not so youngsters) play in malls and in hobby shop. Like Magic TCG and the other TCGs and CCGs, you play with the NeoPets TCGs against other cardholders.

And a few weeks back, I somehow got note of NeoPets online. Last night, after dinner, I powered up my PC at home and directed my browser to
www.NeoPet.com and there immersed myself in the NeoPets’ world.

And what is NeoPets? Think back to the time of Tamagochi, the Japanese virtual pet device. NeoPets works along that line – you create a pet online and do Tamagochiesh stuff with it – feed your pet, buy it toys and items – but the action goes beyond taking care of your pet. That’s because NeoPet marries Tamagochi with Pokemon and a little Dora the Explorer. Not only do you feed your pet but also bring them to battle against other NeoPets. Cool! And your pets level up to become better fighter pets!

Plus, your NeoPet exists in Neopia (I think) which you can explore, play games, interact with other NeoPetters and a whole slew of other stuff you and your pet can do. Female NeoPetters will like to dress up their pets while male ones will surely frequent the Battle Dome.

My first pet is a Yurble which I named DRoyo from my current favorite online alias. And hey, you can also create your own NeoPet. Just click
HERE or the NeoPets button on my sidebar on the right!

I just received a message from my wife telling me that there’s still no power over at our place. So that means no travels to Neopia yet from the comfort of my couch over the weekend. And rumors are circulating that power will still be restored on Sunday – ouch!!!

Then, our apartment will be plunged in darkness for the next three days and this will also mean no washing machine (ouch) and no food to be stored in the ref.

The storm yesterday really frocked things up real bad here in the Metro.

My wife is now on her 32nd week of pregnancy and in just less than two months our little bundle of joy will be brought forth into the world!

She had her regular check-up this week and according to our doctor, the baby is now in the correct position (head-down, leg-up). That’s a bit of good news because this means there’s a higher percentage that she will be born normal.

A few months back, when our little one started growing, she was lying perpendicularly … that’s horizontal instead of the normal vertical. Our doctor told us that we must speak with the baby and tell her to rotate to the proper position. We did and now that our little angel is in the correct position, our doctor advised us again to talk to the baby again and tell her she needs to maintain the position. And yes, we’re doing that right now.

Our baby now moves more vigorously and with a steady 146 bps, is healthy.

And oh, by the way, I am now regular.

I already signed my regularization papers a couple of weeks back and now eligible for additional benefits from the company. So, I asked to what am I now eligible for and guess what, the HR is still in the process of making up the list of things that I should be eligible for.

Great …
