Tidbits for a Tuesday: Again, Nothing to Really Blog About

Finally, we are connected.

Last night, Destiny finally managed to link our home desktop to the internet. After a couple of weeks waiting for Destiny to resolve the problem, I can now go online from the comfort of our sofa and save on fees renting at internet shops.

However, Destiny still has to fix the configuration of the cable modem. Right now, the internet is connected using the USB. The tech guy who romanced my PC last night told me that connection is faster using a LAN card. Unfortunately, even with a LAN card installed, Destiny still encountered a compatibility issue between the LAN card and the modem … the LAN card doesn’t read the IP address of the modem so Destiny can’t give me a dedicated line of connection. Every time I have to surf, I have to wade through their network and find an unused line to use to connect to the net.

Well, even with this problem, my wife and I are happy that we can now surf the net, chat with friends and family, and read emails from home.

We’re hooked on Lost.

Elvie and I started watching Lost: Season 1 last week as a prelude to sleep (aka pampatulog). With her telenovelas ending, we had some extra TV time on our hands and decided on Lost over another TV series, Prison Break.

Funny thing is, instead of being pampered to sleep, Lost heightened our awareness and got your brain working again. So instead of falling asleep, my wife and I sometimes end up watching 2 or 3 episodes.

Even when we went to Laguna over the weekend, I brought along the Lost DVD and watched 3 episodes Saturday evening. My wife fell asleep on the 3rd episode so I obliged her the next morning and re-played the episode.

Our favorite character so far in the series is Sayyid.

I think I strained my bicep muscle yesterday.

New furniture arrived last night and of course, the ensuing events included rearrangement of the existing furniture and much, much carrying and redecorating and pulling and heaving.

However, I think I strained my muscle when I started transferring TV sets. The one downstairs, a 25-inch Sony (temporarily being used because my Sharp Cinemaborg is in need of servicing) didn’t fit the new TV rack so I had to bring the 21-inch TV from the room upstairs and move the 25-inch Sony to our room along with the old TV rack.

Being the only man in the house, I had to do it on my own with occasional help from my wife’s female cousin.

Somewhere in the lugging of that 25-inch TV I believe was the moment I probably strained my muscle.

Ouch!
